Flowing Down A River

Costa Rica is about the size of West Virginia but contains the most, beautiful, lush rain forests, and spectacular scenery in the world! There are seven rivers that you can enjoy a float upon or an exuberating rush of adrenaline while vigorously rushing over white water.

Corobici River is nature made for families with young children, bird watchers to enjoy the incredible biodiversity while floating calmly on the class one and class two waters all year long. During your float you shall observe over 300 species of birds, caimans, iguanas and a host of monkeys.

Rio El General has impressive waves and powerful currents that wind many miles through rain forest canyon with the average trip lasting three or four days long. The class three and class four white water river rafting trips are typically offered during Costa Rica’s rainy season, September through November. This is an excellent adventure for beginners or experienced rafters.

Rio Naranjo sports big waves and steep drops that create thrilling rapids. This class three and four seven mile adventure is perfect for first timers as well veterans alike. Typically the minimum age is fourteen and is offered during the months May through October.

Pacuare River offers class three and four tumbling white water rapids that will challenge both the beginners and the experienced rafters. Along you trip down the river you will see cascading waterfalls and natural water slides, besides the spotted ocelots, sleep sloths and so many amazing feathered friends. One to three day trips are offered during March through May.

Reventazon River’s flow is controlled by a dam, allowing the one or two day tours to be offered all year round. There are two options, the Florida section and the Pascua section. The Florida section is for beginners and families with children twelve and over; the Pascua section offer class four rapids on this twelve mile run for the more experienced rafter. During you float you shall see beautiful rain forest canopy and many inhabitants along the banks.

Rio Sarapiqui also offers two different white water experiences. The La Virgen section provides a class three – perfect for families with children twelve and over; Sarapiqui San Miguel has continuous white water class three and four for the intermediate rafters and families with teenagers. Tours are offered all year round and you will see an abundance of wildlife and birds along the banks.

The last river, Rio Savegre offers class three on one day tours and class three and four on the two day tours all year round. The one day tour is perfect for beginners and families with children as young as eight years old. The two day tour is for those who want more thrills and rushing rapids. Here you will pass through lush forested mountain valley with tumbling waterfalls.
